Exhaust System for 86 Camaro
Exhaust System for 86 Camaro
I own a 1986 Camaro (2.8L) and want to put an exhaust system on it. Please help me out as to which would improve performance the most. This is my first car and I have not touched it at all. Thanks.

Well, you can't go wrong with the usual header/dual exhaust arrangement. There are plenty of off-the shelf exhaust packages that are available.
Geez, maybe something with dual 1 3/4" or 2" pipes. How much noise are you willing to tolerate? It wouldn't be hard at all to have a quiet, yet free flowing exhaust. Be sure to use a balance pipe upstream of the cats!
As for the intake side, hopefully someone with experience in motivating a 2.8L V6 will write and help you out there.

I took a 3" pvc T-pipe,(shaped like a T) and stuck the long part of it into the black thing coming from the tb and tightened it down good and tight.Next i took 2 1/2in pvc about 17in long and ran it to where the old airbox was(85 firebird)and put a k&n on the end.Next for the other half of the T-pipe i put 4 layers of girlfriends old pantyhose over it for now.I plan to either get another k&n on and put right on to it,or leave the panty hose on for my filter and run some 3" air dryer ducting for ram air AND cold air.The throttle response is AMAZING!!!I thought it was cool and just wanted to pass it along
