SLP 1 5/8 or 1 5/8 supercomps?
Summit has the hooker supercomps for tpi with y-pipe for 350 and has SLP 1 5/8's on sale at 350 also. My questions are:
Which is better performance wise the slp's or the hookers?
How much is rust a factor (how long should they last on a daily driver in KS) and how much better will the stainless steal slp's hold up?
On the same note do the stainless steal headers have a finish similar to chrome or do they just look like bare steal?
The motor is out of the car, but i'd still like to know which would be easier to install.
What else do i need to complete the install on both headers, and do i need the slp install kit and how much does it cost?
I'm currently freshening the motor out of my 88 350 GTA, planning on ported heads, base, plenum, and a comp cam. No cat, stock cat back for now, but probably getting a dynomax system latter, as well as chip burning equip, afpr, free mods ect.
Ok I've heard alot of people complaining of clearance problems with slp's 1 3/4 headers but not with the 1 5/8's so i don't think that they have the problem.

Im pretty sure the SLP are stainless so they should never rust but will leave a nice hole in your wallet. Im starting to sound like mark but HEDMAN longtubes and duals all the way. You can run the entire setup i have for cheaper than just the headers if you go hooker super comps or SLP.

However, not everyone may be up to installing duals.... I am though.

The dual setups does sound like the way to go but I'm still not convinced on the ground clearance issues involved, also i haven't been impressed with the exhaust exits, my 86's exhaust leaked when i bought it and i couldn't stand the smell in the interior. A friend of mine is going to try it with some shorty headers, but i think i'll just wait to see how it turns out. I'm aiming for mid to low 13's eventually and i don't think either of these headers will really put to much of a bottleneck into the exhaust.
Does anyone know how much it would cost to buy and weld an O2 bung onto those dynomax full length headers and would I need anything else for air, etc. to work with a stock tpi system?

they sale a bung for the o2 sensor for aboit 5$ and a shop would probably weld it on for free. You have to drill it out which isnt to hard. So your going with longtubes and single exhaust?!?
Lately the dual exhaust is becoming very popular...just think about all the bills your gonna save, how much better it will sound, and how much louder it will be
Im thinking about trying to put my mufflers back alittle further than most I have seen. just behind the badckseat humps. this should give me alittle more grond clearance. Just take it easy and dont do anything crazy and you shouldnt have a poblem with the clearance.
