And it costed $650.00 after tax. I just did the V6 to V8 swap and was wondering if I paid too much to get my exhast done? I got the Y pipe config 3" into high flow cat and 2 1/2 (I think) to flow master dual outlet muffler.
I was thinking of cutting the cat off but since I just paid a small fortune for it I'm kind of hesitant to do that. I know my car would run better if I did. It'll never run like it did with open headers though
Neighbors were less than pleased.
Has anyone else had this type of exhaust done ? And how much was it? Thanks.

Sounds high to me but remember, the average muffler shop doesn't like to mess with pipe bigger than 2-1/4" ID. They probably had to do a LOT of fabricating since the existing hangers were for the V6. The cat converter is never cheap. $650 sounds like the price a new car dealer would charge for a dual conversion.
I know that to be the case because a neighbor, back in 1989, custom-ordered duals for his brand new Lincoln Town Car. It had the same 5.0 V8 as in the Crown Vic. The Crown Vic police package had duals and those duals were good for an extra 20HP. Retrofitting the police dual exhaust included two Ford cats and it set him back an extra $700! So, $650 is high but not unusual.
