Prior to the introduction of the L69 the 1982-83 Camaro (and Firebird) were losing the battle against the Mustang - on the streets, in the showroom, in magazines and on the track. After the L69 was introduced everything changed. To not acknowledge the impact the late-year introduction of the L69 had on the 3rd gens is to miss a pivotal point if F-body evolution.
Much like the later 1LE cars, it was a "total package". The L69 used the fortified LU5 Cross Fire Injected block, a unique & aggressive flat tappet camshaft, and the LU5's heads but the L69 aluminum intake and the computer controlled L69 Rochester carb flowed 750 CFM compared to the Cross Fire Injected LU5 and the Corvette L83's 475 CFM - a huge difference that resulted in the L69 being rated at 190HP compared to the LU5's 175. Along with the better breathing intake, Chevrolet outfitted the Z-28 with a dual scooped air cleaner, a special, free-flowing exhaust system with large diameter exhaust manifolds, Y-Pipe, and muffler, the Corvette’s catalytic converter, a 3:73 geared rear with aluminum drums and for the first time in an F-Body - the Borg Warner world class T-5 mounted behind a light weight flywheel. It was a calculated collection of parts that changed the outcome of the magazine & street wars of the time.
When tested by Motor Trend the L69 turned the quarter in 15.55 seconds compared to the LU5's 16.44, and when tested by Car & Driver, the L69 turned a 15.0 quarter mile at 93 mph! The package was so significant that every R7U Player’s Cup, SCCA & Trans am Series race car built between 1984 & 1986 was an L69, and there's a reason for that - it performed! Introduced late in the 1983 model year there were only 3,223 Camaros produced with the L69 package.
This particular Z28 was manufactured in the Norwood, Ohio plant in April of 1983 and sold new at Richard’s Chevrolet in Cheshire, CT on April 18th 1983. The original owner sold the car 15 years later in 1998 with only 65,644 miles on it. Garage kept its entire life, the second owner used the car locally, maintaining it religiously and only added an additional 1000 miles in the next 17 years. The car shows like a well-kept 32 year old car should, some minor paint chips & door dings are present, the interior has some indication of wear but the car overall is in very nice condition. The following parts are new or perfect used and have been added to the car to maintain its classic appearance: Front grills, headliner, visors, speaker covers, dash pad, shifter boot, wheel centers, hood & hatch lift supports, stripe kit, quick-ratio power steering box, thermostat, fan relay, oil pressure sending unit and the intermediate exhaust pipe between the cat and the muffler.
The car has been fully detailed and professionally polished, the interior has been shampooed and the engine compartment cleaned. It has all the options you would want from power windows, hatch & door locks, power seat, cruise & tilt wheel, full gauge package, air conditioning, T-tops, AM/FM cassette and rear cargo cover with locking storage well. It is ready for its next owner to drive & enjoy. **It is believed to be original paint after careful review of my body man.**
The third generation Camaro’s & Firebirds are on every future collectible list published today and are beginning to climb in value. As with all collector cars, the ones equipped with the highest horsepower engine available and the most options are the ones most sought after. Low mileage examples of these are very difficult to find – this is an excellent opportunity to purchase a future collector car ahead of the market. I can assist with delivery for a small fee in the Northeast or will work with your shipping company - of course the vehicle does not leave here until payment in full has been made.
Price - $8,750 obo

Reason: New Price
Probably going to be moving it out of the barn and over to another property I have for winter storage and that will give me a better opportunity to work on it or show it if anyone is interested.
Considering getting carpeting & mats for it just to finish off the interior on it - I think that's the only thing holding it back at the moment.
Connecticut isn't out of range from Ontario, just a plane ticket and one night in a hotel. I'm sure this seller will prep the car to ensure a trouble-free journey back home. Registrar of Imported Vehicles say they need 72 hours to approve your paperwork, but it doesn't take that long.

No snow in the forecast in the upcoming week...
If that was the only thing, I'd agree; however, the exchange rate increases the net price to me by almost 40%. So it isn't distance so much as a fairly priced car stateside means I'd be into it for at least 30% more than local market value not counting transport and import costs. At advertised price it'd be nearly $14k CAD to my door. Beautiful car, but...
The US economy recovered a bit ahead of Canada, as is often the case, however this time the price of oil fell in the ******* and Canada is very heavy in the resource sector. It also didn't help any that Obama killed the big pipeline.
I see the link I put above today shows $12,038 just on the conversion. I love my country and living here but the cost living seems so much higher than the US.

Flip side to $0.73 Canadian dollar is if you are selling. Just make sure advertising on U.S. sites is in U.S. dollars and FOB location for delivery is Detroit, Buffalo or whatever. This way you can increase the number of potential buyers tenfold without scaring away a buyer that might be leery of sending money to a "foreign" (ha ha) country.
Hey great car! Thanks for the nice pics of original equipment especially the underhood. I am working towards a L69 Dual Snorkel look on mine for next season.
Thanks for the great road test video. I played it on the home theater.......good benchracing video! Wish I had a piece of road like that in the back yard!
Best of luck on your sale....you will prob miss it the next day........
The real deal with the Canadian dollar is it was manipulated to make Canada's exports cheaper so they can sell more of their products to the states.Same as China manipulating their currency. Most people have a short memory. Not long ago the U.S, Canada and Mexico were going to follow Europe model and make a common currency Tentatively called the Amero. Then the depression hit and the Idea was scrapped.
