LONG TUBES ?? FIT PROBS?
LONG TUBES ?? FIT PROBS?
ok i see all these hopped up f-bodies out here with LT headers and it goes against everything i was told from an exhaust guy. THEY WONT FIT, THEY WILL DRAG, just flat out dont get them and i didnt want 1-5/8" headers so i skipped it b/c of money.. and now what all of a sudden they fit what the heck .. well i will have my engine out this spring and i will be repainting everything so i wont have to install around motor.. but i want someone with them to verify that a car that is lowered no more than 2" can have these ( i may not even lower ) but if i do. i would like to know i can still drive it safely. thanks for anyones help. and pictures from the side of your car underneath if poss. will help. and pics from top down showing how far they come out will also. thanks everyone.

I am in the same boat as you. I keep hearing that people install long tubes and get away with it but then you call summit or jegs or a manufacturer and they say you need to modify the floor pans or that you wont be able to lower the car.
I have been strongly leaning twoards getting hedman's 1-5/8 long tubes and welding in an o2 sensor and then just putting on 3 in turndowns. I think this will be a killer setup but I still havent commited because no one has given me a for sure "they will fit" encouragement.
Oh well I guess thats what this board is for huh

My car is lowered and I was wondering about the Hooker long tubes also. Does anyone know they will fit? Do they have an O2 bung and a y pipe or what?
Thanks
Chris

My car is not lowered and I have the Hooker long tubes and they fit great. I seriously doubt that there would be a problem even if the car was lowered. I will try to take some ground level pics and post them.
They did not come with the O2 bung but I bought one and welded it into the collector.

I have hedman full length headers with 1 5/8 primaries. They fit very well with no ground clearance problems but my car is not lowered. The key to not having ground clearance problems is making the y-pipe. I had one custom made my a local shop that turned out great, I lost maybe an inch of clearance compared to the stock exhaust. I didn't do anything to the floorpans either. I have some exhaust pics on my website but sometimes the link doesn't work, not sure why. If it doesn't work click it a few times and it may work or just email me and I'll send you some pictures.
