Welding!!!! Help!!!!

I just bought the weld-in 3" Catco cat, Edelbrock TPI TES headers and TPI cat-back from Summit...the universal-fit cat was $43 compared to a custom bolt-on $125...please help!! I don't have a CLUE about welding...can I assemble the whole exhaust and then drive to my local mechanic and have him weld it up? Can I only assemble and weld at the shop? Is weld-on the same as slip-on, but eventually should weld? What does welding cost? Thanks a ton...sorry I'm so clueless...

Ram Heavy Duty clutch (yes, I think it's great)
Dual .50 caliber machine guns just under ground effects

Coming very soon:
Edelbrock TES (Jet-hot coated)
Catco cat
Edelbrock 3" Cat-back
KYB shocks
Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace
South Side Machine subframe connectors

When your buddy reaches for a 10-pound sledge and says "I think we're gonna have to modify the floor pan, okay?" the answer is NO.

Baron, go to your local parts store and ask for a universal catalytic converter installation kit. It will be a flange and a pen!s (I am not kidding) looking adaptor pipe that will fit your cat back and slide onto the converter. The whole exhaust can then be bolted on. Ta Da!

Thanks a lot, Mike...saved me a lot of hassle Do you think I should eventually weld the whole thing up, or will it be o.k. just bolted?

Once it is fully assembled just have someone tack weld the exhaust together. That way if you ever want to take it back apart it is just a matter of cutting some small tack welds.

Sounds like a plan...thanks for your wisdom. Hey, call me stupid, but I can't seem to find any cat install kits online...checked autozone.com, napaonline.com, expressparts.com, even advanceautoparts.com...NOTHING...how much do they usually go for?

I got mine at Champion Auto. You will have to go to a counter person and have them look in an exhaust book for your particular kit. If all else fails go to an exhaust shop and ask for some help. If anyone says they do not make this part they are full of **** they do exist. I had a friend at Champion look through a Walker exhaust book and found the correct numbers for the cat back adaptor and the mounting flange. YOU OWE ME BIG TIME! I just dug out the box I saved for my flange and my wife is pissed. The part number is 31935 Walker it costs $34.99. I don't have the pipe part number but this is a start. Good Luck.
