I was thinking of running 2.5in dual pipe from the manifolds into Flowmaster 40's (no cat) then dumped under each seat. On a '92 RS with a 305, How do you think this would sound?

ground clearance will definately suck... so i would hope its not a daily driver, if its dumped under the seats it will definately be crazy loud inside the car, especially with it being flowmaster 40's in the first place lol

it will sound pretty damn good, and it will be loud. headers will make it sounds even better and help free up some power. i have a similar setup, excpet i have a modded 350 with headers and i use hooker aerochambers cause i like the sound better and they were cheaper than flows

well, in short, it will be LOUD. even flowmaster themselves say the 40 series generates interior resonance, and what that really means its real loud inside, and it is even louder outside. itll be loud no matter where they exit, but dumping right under you might even become annoying. but, if youre going for loud....you got the right setup . it will have a nice tone though in my opinion. i like the sound of flowmasters, and the 40 series is just more of it....well, you get what im saying by now im sure :lala:

I have hedman longtubes running true duals with 2 40 series flows under my seat with turndowns and its loud inside and out. ALOT of interior resonance but it sounds ungodly from the outside.

Yeh, I'm going for all hell's breaking loose loud. My only concern is the ground clearence. But I don't go many places where I would have to worry about that. I will also probably be adding some kind of headers to, so any suggestions on them would be nice.

I would try and save up some money to get some long tube Hedman headers, only $104 for uncoated, then do your dual thang.

If Hedmans are that cheap I dont mind going ahead and picking them up too. as long as they sound good I have no problems. I am thinking while I am at it I will put on an open element K&N. All of my exhaust mods would be worthless if it couldnt bring more air in.

Ground clearance will be pretty bad. Im not sure if I could even take a speed bump so youll have to be careful.

Well I got pulled over last night and he didnt say anything about the exhaust being loud so thats good.

dumps wont be as loud as running the pipes out the back or to the side. the sound just goes into the car. its loud as hell in the car, but not too loud outside.

Two other tricks to make it sound less annoying are........

1.) When you mount the turn downs, angle them toward each other just a little. It's kinda the same as running two speakers out of phase, but it won’t be quieter, just less harsh.

2.) Run a crossover (aka balance pipe). It helps smooth the sound by merging the opposite pulse waves from each bank of cylinders.

Im gonna open a can of worms and I know it... But what I did was bought the Summit headers for $80 which are long tubes. I sanded them and repainted them and put the three disk Car Chemistry inserts inside the headers and dumped down right off the collectors and angled them down pointing towards each other a little and believe it or not its not really all too loud after startup once the car warms up. But mark my word Im gonna have every catback **** bashing my setup but I personally feel that there is less horsepower loss this way and it isnt nearly as loud as you might expect.
