Question about cat-back size

I saw in a different post where a guy said that the 2.25" Hooker Cat-Back is alot quieter than the 3". I have an RS so mine is going to need the 2.25. If I want to run the 3" instead, what should I do? I guess I'll have to get a bigger cat? Also I heard the American Thunder system is goes from 2.25 to 3" and enters the muffler as 3". Is this true? What would be the sound difference?

You are right in saying that the American Thunder system goes from a 2.25 to 3". Actually it is only 2.25 for a short bit. Basically long enough for it to leave the cat and gradually increase in size. The cool thing is that the piece that has the change in it is seperate from the rest of the system meaning it could be changed out easily later for a full 3" system. I have the American Thunder cat-back on my car and it sounds awsome. It is kind of a low rumble at idle and lower rpm levels, but when you start to get to 2000+ rpm it really starts to howl. I think it is great.

I put the Hooker Super competition on mine, it's 3 inch and it bolts right up to an L03's
cat. I got mine from Jegs.com, just make sure you get the one that says not for HO. It should be about $270.
