Shorty/Longtube????

Which is the best and easiest to install Shorties or Longtubes.

I also want to know if i'm gonna have to buy any extra parts to install headers on my car....I'm also getting a catback system.

Shorties will slide in easier, you're set up doesn't need long tubes.

You'll need header gaskets, circle port.

1st, don't get parts made to fit your car. Explaination: LG4 exhaust was horrible, and getting aftermarket exhaust to fit LG4 exhaust parts is a waste of time and money. So, go for a TPI-style single cat system with y-pipe for '86-'90 model years. Yes, it'll fit your engine and in the chassis, no problems.

Next, don't stop at headers and cat-back. Again, get parts for the '86-'90 TPI single cat application for a direct fit cat and cat-back.

If you get a new set-up, it should have all of the gaskets and bolts you'll need. However, the '86 LG4 A.I.R. system connects to the driver's side from the front, while the TPI system goes around the back of the engine. So, you'll have to do some fabricating to route it around the back or some other re-routing (I still haven't finished that part - just have it capped off for now).

I just put a set of Flowtech shorties on my car. They went in real easy, both sides dropped from the top. Manifold bolts came out real easy too. And it was only $200 for the headers and y-pipe. The only thing you should need are some new gaskets.
