I recently bought a 1989 305 tbi trans am.I installed a 80 series flowmaster with the chrome tips and was not to satisfied with the results.It is 100 times better than the stock muffler which makes no noise.After looking at alot of post IT seems that alot of people recommend new headers and cams.Will this produce a more agressive sound and will it also improve the performance of my car.IF so which cams and headers do you recomend..........Thanxs

Yes, installing headers and a cam will make it sound much better, and improve performance alot also, but they really shouldn't be done just for sound because these are not cheap things, although u can.
Headers are usually $300-$400, cams are like $100-$200, but for a cam to work right with the engine u will need new heads and other things, and heads are like $800-$1,200!! All these prices are estimations, but thats what the prices usually are. So if u want sound u should really look into learning more about performance because sound comes with performance and u have to know what u are doing to have a good running car.

An estimate of a cam only costing $100 to $200 is not accurate. I just got done swapping the cam in my 87 IROC with the LT4 Hot Cam from GMPP ($184). With the cam I had to buy a new timing chain ($90), new valve springs and seals ($185), machine work on the heads ($115), gaskets and asorted other parts, i.e. new O2 sensor ($130), all in all close to $700 I think.

I said those #'s assuming u were to do all the work yourself. I also said that there are other things.

Thanxs for the advice.....I have alot of major research to do now.......I am not just going to add parts on my car and then get no improvement because it is running bad to begin with.....For now I have just done the tune up and exhaust.....Thanxs
