Will I ever get away with straight pipes here in Southern Cali? I want to just cut off my muffler, and go without one, but will i get busted? Whats the price if I do? If anyone know, please tell me

 

I would think you wouldn't.

But, all depends on how the cops are in your neighborhood, and how you drive.

 

Why would you want straight pipes though. When i had my muffler off it was loud as hell, but sounded like a 30 year old rusted out pickup truck. I dunno, maybe it's just me but I'll take a killer tone over killer loudness anyday, especially on a street car.

 

I've known a couple guys with straight pipes....and there really isn't much of a "tone" it's just freakin LOUD!! I like it loud...but I also like an aggressive tone.....the 40 series Flowmaster provides it very well......

 

I have straight pipes on my 85 305 tpi trans am. It sounds fine. I have the cat on the car. When i let off you can't tell that the muffler is off. whenever i go by a police officer i just let off and they'll never know. I have the muffler taken off and then had the exhaust shop make it dual outlets again.
