What size exhaust to run
What size exhaust to run
I am building my project 89 Formula right now and I need to know what you guys think I should do about exhaust.
The motor is a Ram Jet 350 with Fast burn heads and a LT4 Hot Cam. I already have some 1 3/4 SLPs on the way, but what size catback do I need. I figured 3in would be too small. Should I do a 3.5in Mufflex or would 4in be too much?
What do you guys think? Let me know.
Thanks

17 inch ROH "ZS" wheels. 17x8.5(front) and 17x9.5 (rear). Firestone Firehawk SZ50s. 245/45/zr17s and 275/40/zr17s. T56
On the way... Radar Blue 89 Formula, T56, Ram Jet 430, Ram Air, 17inch ROHs.

I would go with 3" or 3.5" 4 would probally be too much. My buddys bird has 3.5 straight and its LOUD, sounds pretty good. I recorded my 3" cat back and they poseted it in the movie page. Its a quicktime video, might give you some idea.

I agree.
I wouldn't recommend a 4in. exhaust unless u had like a 383 and were modding it.

If I am not mistaken the y-pipe on the slp headers in 3 inch so I am not sure that 3.5 exhasut would help much. I could swear I have read that sigle 3 inch was good to 450hp. you won't see that so you should be fine with the 3 inch.
