Where to tap the S-10 headers on the 2.8

Where to tap the S-10 headers on the 2.8
I've got the S-10 shorty headers on my 2.8. Problem is now is that in this form they're not smog legal because there's no tube for the EGR valve. Question: Where should I tap in the pipe onto these headers? At the collector or one of the tubes? if one of the tubes, which one? I've heard that the cylinder #3 is the best place but i'm not sure? Please verify! thanks!
