Please help with screw size for slp headers to y-pipe
I just got slp headers on tonight so does anyone know what size (thread, not length) that connects the headers to the y-pipe. The nut that connected the manifold to the factory ypipe was a 17mm I think, so I'm not sure if it is standard or metric into the fixed nut on the header clamp deal. If I find out tonight, I can pick them up tomorrow after work, otherwise I'll have to come home, try to figure it out then go back to the hardware store . . . thanks
I took my headers, SLP, into Menards with me and tested the bolts until i found one with the correct thread, and also get the bolts in stainless steel.
woops, you already have the headers on....If i remember correctly, the bolts i used were 3/8" but i dont know the thread, i think its pretty common though, and make sure you get the bolts long enough, if i had to do it over i think i would get some longer ones. I ended up putting a lock washer on the y-pipe side of the clamp, which was cutting it close, i can't even remember how long mine were right now, but i would say no shorter than 3"

I cant say for sure, i just rationalized that there wouldnt be much stress on the particular joint and they are easy to switch out if need be, i dont know all the specifics of the make-up of the two different bolts. FOr this though, the 3/8" seemed hefty enough.....
