dual exhuast

Is it possible for me too run dual exhuast on my 87 firebird formula. All the exhuast places around me said that its impossible and I'd have to runone pipe and then make into 2 at the end because of clearance. Is that true or can I run dual straight back?

Its possible but not a very good idea. Its a lot of work, low ground clearance, HP gains are minimal, its not legal all over.... check out my dual exaust page for pics. Most aren't done well at all and would be schooled by a good 3" system.

i know i guy that ran true dual side exit on his 82 camaro, he has problems with speed bumps, but its sounds bad *** , just avoid speed blump, and drive slowing around town, so you don't bottom it out, it will work, later.

A true dual exhaust is the way to go. I installed one on my 86 Camaro and the improvement was awesome! My 383 needed to breath alot easier. I will tell you this much , a well set up daul exhaust is way better than any single exhaust you may run(powerwise). When I tried my dual exhaust for the first time I felt a dramatic increase in power. Those manifolds were choking the power out of my 383.

Will install 3.73's later on and might go with a more aggresive cam.As of 4/01 added Hooker Headers,2.5inchpipes with 40 s. Flowmasters.Ignition upgrade include: MSD Coil and MSD module.

Make sure your car is up to it. I swapped to a true duel on my 73 camaro and proceeded to loose two cyl. It did sound nice... until I blew the engine. Old engine, new exhaust, be careful.
