Which is a better Cat Back system borla flowmaster-Amaerican thunder or hooker aeroch. I am curious about flow/ acutal power increase, sound, installation ease and quolity of the product looks are also important.

just my opinion but...
flowmaster has the best sound, borla has the best performance, and hooker has pretty good performance and sound. all those companies have high quality products. id assume there wouldnt be a major difference in ease of installation. dont know what borla looks like, but hooker and flowmaster look good.

I like my flowmaster. Loud and aggressive tone. All 3 will give you a nice gain, just gotta pick what sound your going for.

What about borlas Interchangable plate system for different exhaust flow levels? IS that louder and producing more power with the open exhasut?

With an open plate your pretty much running strait pipe, so its loud as hell and should flow best. Performance wise there is maybe a 2-4 horse power difference between fully closed and wide open plates, at least on stock or bolt-on engine.Originally posted by raptere

I installed the borla adjustable stainless system a few weeks ago, and its great. Ive tried the various plates that ajust the sound from the smallest hole one to the largest, and ther is not that much difference. If you put the solids plate in all exaust is diverted throught the muffler. I havent tried that one. The sound is great at idle and cruising speeds. At WOT it is a little raspier than some but I dont really mind. LIngenfelter says it is the best combination of sound and performance. He likes the Hooker aerochamber too in the book I read. I love the fact that it is stainless and should last indefinetely. Butt dyno shows good results too.
I am not nuts about the dual/dual tips, but they are growing on me. Looks like the fourth gens

My advice would be to save the money you would spend on the expensive Borla system and get either hooker or flowmaster. Then take that extra $300-400 that you saved and get headers!

I like my dual hookers, very aggresive sounding. It makes my almost stock motor sound like it has some *****.

I love the way my flowmaster sounds, I chose it over all the others, sounds very agressive, but looses a little of it's sound at WOT, but sounds great at cruising speeds.

iv got the flowmaster cat back on my 87 camaro and it sounds great.
I was gona get it for my 98Z28 but for some reson it just sounds wrong on the LS1. So im gona go with SLP exhaust on the 98.
