I have an '89 IROC-Z. It has the SLP cat-back on it currently (dual pipe outlet on drivers side). Although it is louder than stock exhaust (barely), I was wondering if I bought the Loud Mouth (made for 1998-up camaros/firebirds), if it would be relatively easy to take the Loud Mouth and have an exhaust shop mate the Loud Mouth to my current exhaust. I understand that the hangers might have to be moved and some welding / cutting will be done, but Im so desperately seeking a loud exhaust note. I know that this sorta sounds like a waste of money, but I feel that I would enjoy my car a lot more if It was louder. BTW: During this "conversion," I would be adding SLP headers and !CAT.

SLP used to sell a conversion kit for using the 93+ exhaust on thirdgens.I think they did it to sell off the fourthgen takeoff exhausts they had stock piled.I'm not sure what the kit consisted of though.Call SLP , those guys will usually bend over backwards to help you.

...if you don't mind keeping your 2-O-T-L exhaust, it's a fairly straightforward and inexepensive conversion...replace your SLP muffler with a straightpipe and a Y to go to the tailpipes, and buy the LM resonator from SLP and install it inline in your 3" intermediate pipe just forward of the axle. If you want dual outlets it's going to be a little more tricky...the over-the-axle pipe on the LM has very close clearances on the 4th gen, and the passenger side exhaust pipe has a bend in it that the 3rd gen pipes don't have...
If you could score an old Borla system from the axle back it would be fairly easy to convert...you'd have the correct over the axle pipe, a functional passenger side tailpipe, and replacing the Borla muffler with a straight pipe would take care of the drivers side. If you have a custom muffler shop in your area they may be able to fab up the pipes you need from the axle back...it's just probably not going to be cheap...
