"Flamethrower" mod

For effect, I was looking at doing the mod that causes the exhaust to ignite. I have the basic idea down on how to do it, but was not totally clear on the process. Spark plugs inserted into pipes, switch dash, and wiring to battery. I would really like a more detailed description, if available. Thanks a lot in advance guys!

there is a company that makes a flame thrower kit. I want to do this badly, but I keep running out of money. Give me a couple days and I'll find there web adress.

Unless you have a really cool show car dont even bother. It is not worth it to have a little fire come out of your pipes.

On the other hand the NHRA dragsters dont need any spark plugs to do it. Just get one of those motors into your car.

I found this on a website.

Auto Exhaust Flame Thrower

For this one, all you need is a car, a sparkplug, ignition wire and a switch. Install the spark plug into the last four or five inches of the tailpipeby drilling a hole that the plug can screw into easily. Attach the wire (this is regular insulated wire) to one side of the switch and to the spark plug. The other side of the switch is attached to the positive terminal on the battery. With the car running, simply hit the switch and watch the flames fly!!! Again be careful that no one is behind you! I have seen some of these flames go 20 feet!!!

A trick that drag racers and exhibitionist have been using for a long time is petroleum jelly where ever the flames are coming from. If you're doing it right they shoot out pretty far. I'm fairly sure that you need to use a coil to get enough power to run the spark plug(maybe not though). For carburated cars rev the engine up pull the choke and floor it while activating the spark. Should shoot flame about 10 to 15 feet out the back or side. You do need a fairly stout engine to do that though. Else you don't get as much flame distance. For FI cars use a rev limiter at high RPM, or a switch for ign. it won't make as much fire maybe, but should have the same effect. If you want to keep emissions legal exhaust, think about cutouts for the flames. $50 jc whitney (for two cable activated).
