2-way / 3-way CAT
2-way / 3-way CAT
In Jegs they have 2-way, 3-way, and 3-way with AIR inlet tube, I do know what the AIR inlet tube is. But what is the difference between 2 and 3-way. I Have an 89 Iroc but I don't need the inlet tube. and the 2-way is the only one (of that brand) that comes with a 3" inlet. will the 2 way work. Cause you can only get an AIR inlet tube in 3-way.
so what are the differences in construction AND application.
Thanks anyone

I would not judge which one is correct by going just with what is listed in the catalog. You should just get a direct replacement 3". Then you'll know you got the right one that fits. I got a direct replacement Catco 3" (86-89, single cat, 3" in/out) from summit for $112. It was easy to install myself.

obviously you didnt understand when you replied, he was asking what the difference between three way and two way cats is, im assuming the flow would be different (not sure which way though), he wasnt asking about diameter.
When cats first came out in about 1975, it only allowed for further combustion of HC and CO. (2)
Then later on, it added a 3rd element, NO.
I dont know if you would pass smog with only a 2 way converter. Maybe someone here has done it?

Yeah, 2way/3way determines how many pollutants the cat effects.
Just call Summit and order a 3" Inch Catco Cat. Talk to the rep, they have a direct replacement 3" unit (should fit all 86-92 single cat TPI applications, bolts to the I-pipe, slipon at y-pipe) . I have that on both my 87Z and my old 86 IROC. Works great. They were $99 when I bought them awhile back...
