Will I fail emmissions without charcoal canister?

For some brilliant reason I can't hook up my charcoal canister to my carburetor... First off I'm wondering why Edelbock doesn't allow that and if it's a performance issue.

I also want to know as the title states whether or not I will fail emmissions for not hooking it up?

Third, how easy would it be to jerry rig the canister to the carb? or how would I make it look like it is connected?

Fourth, if I got a 76-80 carb from a camaro or firebird, would that allow me to hook up the canister?

The upstate NY emmissions tests are solely visual and all I really need is the stock look...

Ok I'll give it a shot. . .

1. Don't know why edelbrock doesn't have that feature, maybe it is supposed to get hooked up to the big tube sticking off the front of the carb up high? Just an idea, not based on anything really.

2. You should be able to pass emissions ok. As long as they don't have a really strict visual inspection, I wouldn't worry about it. I passed a non computer controlled carburated 350 with no EGR for an '84 305 for the past few years. Just make sure that everything else is in good working order and things should work out.

3. I'd say try sticking a hose to that big spot on the front. Don't know what affect it would have, but couldn't hurt too much to try. And if the visual inspection is not tough (ours is just for a cat and gas cap), don't worry about trying to make it look like it is hooked up.

4. Sorry, dunno.

And now I just got to the part about the test being solely visual. If that's the case, you shouldn't have too much trouble hooking it up somewhere. Good luck.

I'm seriously thinking of putting a 79 carb on it... it's supposed to fit perfectly and it would probably alow me to hook up the canister, plus I could probably sell the edelbrock for 200 (is this realistic?) without a loss in performance...

I just found out that the '79 carb is off of a '79 corvette The guy thinks it's off a camaro or cadillac hehe I gotta get it
