The only way I could put mine in were through the bottom with the car jacked up about 2- 2 1/2 feet and the motor lifted as high as it would go without pulling it completely out.Take the steering shaft out to make it easier on the driver's side. And pull out the oil dipstick also for the other side. I also pulled the valve covers to make a little more room-it helped. My knock sensor connector wouldn't fit back onto the sensor,so I stripped off the connector and soldered the wire to the sensor.I also had to move the brake lines around a bit.Not much though. PITA.Good luck.

Say WHAT???

You did all THAT just to get the headers in!

DANG!

And just how many beers were left in the fridge when you were done??

I have not taken the header plunge as of yet, but you are the first that I've heard from that went through all that.

Do a search in this thread under hooker headers and you'll get all the install advice, tips, and horror stories you can stand to read.

From what I have researched, the hookers seem to be the most hassle free to install. That's model 2055 shorties.
I hear the biggest pain is getting the old exhaust manifolds off.
THen it's just a matter of finess to get the headers on.
Try it from the bottom, then try it from the top. I've heard both work.

Yep. I tried all different kinds of ways. Mine are longtubes.Another guy in our 3rd gen club has a built 355 and switched from Hedmann to the Hooker SC's and had to do the exact same thing. The shorties go in much easier.I helped a friend install Hooker shorties on his,and it went much smoother.

Ahhh, Long Tubes!
One thousand pardons RSpeed.

Now that makes sense.

If I had the time to do a nice long tube install, I'd probably go that route as well.

Our car is our daily driver and the only car we have at this time, so it's kinda out of the question to get a rental car so I can do some mods to our current car.

Perhaps when times are better, I'll be able to finally get that second car and have the camaro as a play toy.
