How do you hollow out a Cat??

I need to go thru emissions soon and will hopefully be putting on my 3" catback tomorrow. I was told that junkyards are not allowed to sell cats. My brother knows a guy that owns an exhaust shop and I was told he had a bunch of cats laying around. My brother is close with this guy and I am pretty sure he would sell me one of the cats. Now my question is the cat if I can get one will be most likely used and not a high flow one. So how do I go about hollowing it out?

well,
on my 'maro, I just took a screwdriver, and a wet/dry shop vac to mine and beat the crap out of the inside. On the inside (if you dont know) there is a honeycomb looking grid of material. It is very easy to knock out. Just go for it.

The bird has no cat. Aint that convenient?

get the ceramic stuff out, have the exaust shop guy cut the ends off, run a pipe straight through the cat, weld it together to look like a real one.
