How can I tell if my cats have been gutted on my 91z 350. The race shop I go to said they were most likely punched, yet I passed emmisions?

I would think you have to look at it. Maybe unbolt the pipe after the cat and get a flashlight in there or see if you can poke a stick or something in it. Don't poke too hard, you don't wana mess with it if its still good. it might be craked in pieces so parts of it are still working.

Nah, just rap on it with your knuckles, if it sounds solid then its good, if it rattles then the "honey comb" is falling apart, if it sounds hallow, then it's gutted... you will know what I'm talking about once you have a listen.
