Painted exhaust

I took a can of black gloss paint the other day and did some under the hood stuff like the fans, strut towers, etc. It actually looks good, and cleaner. Then I did the exhaust part that is visible when looking at the car from the side. To me it looks better than that old brownish pipe color. I was wondering if anyone has done the parts visible from the back of the car, like the muffler and tailpipes. I have chrome tips but obviously won't be painting those, but I think painting the muffler and T-pipes black wouldn't look too bad. Also if anyone has pics plz post.

Being non-heat paint isn't it just going to burn off? Maybe let off some smoke or make a little mess? You might want to try hi-temp black heat paint to paint your exhaust with.

I guess would burn off,,,but I don't think the pipes all the way at the back of the car are gonna get hot enough to burn the paint. The other pipes I painted haven't burned off,,,and that's closer to the engine.

I did that to my flowmaster muffler and pipes, not tips! I did about a year ago.

I didnt like the way the muffler stuck out like a sore thumb.....I painted it with flat black hi temp paint...I think it looks alot better.

I would always notice other camaro's when I got behind them and the shiny *** muffler was always the first thing you see. To me it looked cheap..but thats just me..

I like that pic. I think on mine it would look good too, especially with it being red. I don't like the way the muffler stands out when you look at it from the back either. I'll go ahead and try it tomorrow. Thanks.

Theres no turning back now. Wait till tomorrow and you will be able to see real good and get a good coat on it...jack the rear up so you can get all around it... Looks good!, dont it?
better than the muffler saying, "hey look at me down here"

lol definitely. And with the paint being gloss it gives it a nice shiny look. Now it's the tips that stand out more but that's just fine with me. Hell I'm going all out tomorrow. The whole system will be done!

Yep. Muffler shouldn't stand out. It's usually old and rusty. It certainly does make a difference, especially if you have a nice set of tips.

I would just like to say that a painted exhaust is a good idea. That looks really sweet.

I won't have to paint mine, I bought a Hooker Aerochamber exhaust and the muffler on it is already black. Good idea though.

Yeah I'll see how long this paint lasts. I had some left over so I decided to use it up. If it don't last very long I'll redo it with high temp paint.
