Please limit post down to actual experiance on the matter.
I have a 87 Z28 305 TPI all stock. I need a complete exhaust system. was thinking the Edelbrock tubulor headers but dont know bout cat or cat back system.
Need some opinions on headers, cats, cat back, even mufflers.
Is dual exhaust to much breathing for a stock or close to stock engine or would you recomend going dual?
Also would be apreciated if you left additional info like links and part #'s. thanks.

Definately go with the Hooker cat-back, this comes with the aero chamber muffler. There are sound clips in a recent post, and I love the sound of mine. I definately noticed a performance gain from it. As far as the Edelbrock TES. Most people on here will tell you to get different ones, and they're the most restrictive. I have these and haven't had any others, but for the price at the time that's what I had to choose from. SLPs will be your best bet.

Getting dual exhaust on 3rd gens. can be done, but it is usually expensive, and on a near stock motor, you would probably want 2 1/4" duals. I would suggest go the single route with nothing above 3", most cat-backs are 3" and that might even be over doing it on a stock motor, but it will be there in the future for other mods. For the price catco cats are good, but random technology is the best but they are like twice to three times the price at like $200.
If you decide to go with Edelbrock TES part # in jegs is 350-6872 $313. www.jegs.com
for the Hooker cat-back #520-16823 $260 or you could get an exhaust shop to weld the part # 520-16822 $200, that's what I did it isn't specific for my year but it was the cheapest and could be welded on. Oh, the cat-back comes with dual chrome tips exiting on both sides. I recommend putting chrome polish on these especially in between the tips, they will rust.
The cats you'll most likely have to call on them to get the right one.

I run the TES headers with a catco 3" cat (direct fit cat is $100 from Summit) on both my current 87Z and my old 86 IROC (now my brother's). I'm running a Hooker Aerochamber cat-back on the 87Z and a flowmaster setup on the 86 IROC. Both sound good, I prefer the Hooker setup but it's up to personal opinion on which sounds better. Both cat-backs will bolt up just fine to the cat. The direct fit catco 3" cat works with the factory hanger and will slip right onto the y-pipe of the TES headers as well. Might want to have it welded at the y-pipe to eliminate any leaks but you can easily get everything mounted up and driveable in your garage without welding. Good system.

The TES headers are just fine for a fairly cheap set of headers. SLPs are better if you want to spend nearly double the money though. Not worth it to me. I also don't know exactly what's required with them to get the car driveable with that installation kit they make you buy and all. May require welding, I don't know.
