Does carbon Build-up in the system reduce flow capabilities?
Just out of curiousity I was wondering if a old, heavily carbonized exhaust system gives less flow than the very first time it was revved up.
Well, a little bit.. it depends on HOW MUCH build up... if it's just a little (like the black flaky stuff that everyone has) NO... unless you have the same set of headers for like 20 years on a daily driver, plus when you punch the gas... it usually flows air so quickly that after the pipes heat up... the soot blows out... If you have engine problems ...YES.. if you burn oil ... or too rich ,the build up is a little thicker and after a while it adds up
