So much for my Longtubes....inside...

I posted on here yesterday that I got my LT's put on....man did they sound great....Well, last night I was coming home from work...and a red Z06 pulls up next to me at a light...revving up his motor. This kid couldnt have been 18(must have been daddies car). Anyway, I fired mine up a couple times and it was on from there. I know I didnt have a prayer, but figured what the hell.....What I didnt know was they were repaving the road about a half mile down the road, and they had graded, or took up the old pavement leaving about a one foot dropoff....and the only clue was the word "BUMP". Well, when youre going 110, its kinda hard to slow down....To make a long story short...I dont have LT's anymore. I ripped the flanges, Ypipe, Ipipe right off..... I thought I had great ground clearance too.....I did some other damage as well, just havent been out to survey all of it yet. I guess Ill try some shortie headers.......Just thought Id share that....Good luck to anyone that has LT's or is thinking about getting them......

sorry to hear abou the exaust, but i bet even with shorty headers, if you slammed the car that hard, you would have damaged things, just be glad you oil pan is still there

Well...The only other thing that got a little damage was the tranny crossmember...a little dinged up but nothing serious......now's my excuse to put that T56 in anyway... You know....The Z06 didnt run off and leave me the way I thought it would...it was pretty much dead even. So I must have more power than I thought....Youre right though, Im glad I didnt damage more. It just sucks that I didnt have them on for a day and I destroyed them.....oh well....

Sorry to here that, that really sux. Why are you going to go with shorties now? Dewey316 is right, even if you did have shorties you would have messed somthing up. Why don't you just get the LT's again and be A LOT more careful this time.

That really sucks, I'm going to try to be extra careful after I get my LT's. I think I'm gonna have to raise my car back up to stock height too, which I don't really want to do, but oh well, I want LT's.

he he he

i think i might have a solution to everyones long tube problems....

the thing with longtube is they usually don't come down enough to clear the crossmember and we have to make a extension, or by hedmans s extensions to make them work....... this in turn usually makes them hang down too low and drag on everything....

so why not get ya some hedmans for 104 through jegs, and buy some of the flextube and weld it to the headers and connect your exhaust to it... then you will be able to clear the crossmember and tuck your exhaust, and if it drags the flex pipe will let it give and you will just see a few sparks instead of losing your exhaust..... this is what i am going to do and below is a pic of mine.. as you can see, it is a huge problem!

It was a Z06 I know that...but I wasnt gonna let some kid think he could walk all over me...u know? after all, he never left my rear quarter panel..... He came back around after I stopped and asked what I had in my car and said it was the closest race he had been in....Next time I will take it to the track.....I almost thought I was 18 again... Oh well.....I guess Ill try some more LT's maybe, just be a little more careful. They could have had some construction signs up though...damn...
