are my Hooker Super Comps supposed...

are they supposed to come from hooker with the rear passenger side tube unwelded.... also the flange has been cut by that tube

my best guess would be that they come like this for installation purposes...

anyway... i just didn't expect to be purchasing an expensive product that needs more assembly...... kind of pisses me off, especially since i paid extra for the ceramic coating and now there's going to be a fugly painted spot on the headers

thx for the help

interesting..... so that's a one time access thing? because i'm assuming that i need to weld the pipes together after i get the header bolted to the head

thats what i thought also but from people who ive asked that have these headers. some said the tube was on there and not detacable (sp) and other s have the removable tube. and all u have to do to seal the tube when u get the headers on is put some Copper RVT silicone stuff around the tube and slip it in and should be good. theres a write up at the top of this board on the header install.

Did you lose or not read the instruction sheet? If so, do read the sticky above. Welding is not required, nor is painting. Just hi-temp RTV it in there, it will seal & if you use a small amount of RTV you won't even notice the joint.

You definitely dont want to weld it....thats how you would remove your starter should it ever go out....I used high temp anti-sieze on mine...seemed to work fine. You also shouldnt need to paint anything, especially with the Jet Hot on them???

well... i was going to weld the pipe on... and you can't just weld pipe and then leave it open to the elements.... you have to paint over welds... that would've looked bad

Rick, i did read the instruction sheet.. but it wasn't very informative... i think the pipe was refered to one time in the instructions as the "R-4" pipe, like that is supposed to mean something to me..
yah i allready read the sticky... hehe, i'm not used to reading stickies because on LS1.com, all the stickies are just BS(like forum rules and what not) so i just look right past'em

I didn't use anything to seal the #8 primary tube. I just slid it in place and bolted it on to the head. No leaks so far!!
