Replacing cat with straight pipe, a few questions...
Ok, I want to replace my cat with a piece of 3 inch pipe. I was wondering, what do I do with that AIR tube or whatever it is that goes to the cat if I replace that pipe? And no, I don't plan on removing the smog equipment. Just kinda hang it up somewhere under the car? Is it as simple as just cutting the cat off with a sawzall or whatever, taking a piece of 3 inch pipe and putting it on with clamps? I'm just tryin to get an idea of what I'm gonna be doing...
Thanks.
Thanks.

If you're not gonna remove any of the smog equipment then don't even bother with removing the cat. It's not worth it.

I have to disagree. Removing the cat will give you the greatest power return benefit of any smog equipment removal on our cars. You'll either have to weld the end of the AIR line closed or take the AIR tubes out and plug the fittings with pipe plugs or your AIR system is gonna leak and not sound cool tho. Removing the cat will also really bring out the sound of your exhaust.

thx 25THRSS
Now I'll agree
haha
Just go with the highflow cat if you want to stay emissions legal. Otherwise I'd rip it all off. Easier to work without it there.

does all of our cars have that air tube thing? i'm taking off my exhaust today and putting in a dual exhaust setup, and i have to go borrow some jacks to get my car up, but feeling and looking under the car, i couldn't see anything going to the cat besides the exhaust pipe entering and exiting it. i have a '92 v-6, if that makes any difference.
