3" mandrel bent pipe?

I'm putting in a new engine, stock shell have @280 hp, I plan in the future to get her up to 380-400 hp. From what I've read a 3" mandrel bent pipe will do the trick. I strictly only need the pipe from the Y-Pipe to the muffler. I understand that I'll probably have to get a test pipe to bridge the gap for the cat ( car won't have cat, no smog laws ). Now i've read a ton of exhaust posts with no solid answer on who makes a good 3" pipe for our cars that wont cost a ton.

Note: Car will have SLP 30005C Headsrs/ Y-Pipe, also going with 3" Dynomax Ultra Flow welded muffler.

One more thing, Engine is a 95 LT1 out of a Caprice, the stock manifolds are the ram horn looking ones. Question is will the stock y-pipe bolt up to these manifolds? I am doing the 3" pipe now because I want it to breath decent and from what I've read the ram horn manifolds are some of the best flowing manifolds out there. The headers will come with time and money. I have a ton of traction issues to resolve first!

Thanks, Matt

hey, thanks for the quick replies and part numbers.

I changed my original post a little from what it was, does anyone know if the stock y-pipe will bolt up to the ram horn manifolds that came on the 95 Caprice LT1?

Thanks, Matt

No. Our cars have F-body specific manifolds. The routing on a Caprice is totally different.

Thanks, so for now I can use my stock (crap) TBI manifolds, or make the headers a priority.

Thanks

So, you want 3" I-pipe... Your SLP y-pipe will be a 3" pipe ,... right? If not, I wouldn't worry too much about the 3 inches
