Keep or remove emissions stuff???
I have a very stock 1984 Trans Am with the L69 H.O. 305 that just passed NJ state inspection (at the dmv)...I want an aftermarket exhaust I have adopted a new policy of "do it once...do it right"..and came up with 2 options..
1.)Stay emmissions legal:Edelbrock TES with A.I.R. , Catco 3in converter, Hooker Cat back exhaust.
2.)Remove all emmissions equimpment: Headers with Coating, true dual exhaust , 3in dual exhaust...dynomax mufflers...pipes will exit one on each side of car before rear wheels.
...No doubt option 2 would be the best for most emmissions failing cars...since I can still pass i would like to stay that way...Any other ideas? thanks..

I prefer to keep mine emissions legal. Who's to say that in a year or two you won't be moving to California or somewhere else where the Smog ***** reign supreme? You'll be kicking yourself in the **** for tearing out that stuff if you did.

You can tear out the smog equipment just make sure to keep it around to use when smog comes. I live in CA and technically my car shouldn't of gotten through smog with my engine yet it did just fine
