Single or Dual Cats

i have an 84 305 HO 4bbl with a single cat, it's stock. so would it be worth it to get dual cats when i get my headers or should i just stay with a single cat setup?

I would just stay with the single cat if thats what your car had. A good high flowing Cat and Ypipe(Hooker) will flow just as good as a dual cat setup. The original cars that came with the dual cat had to because of changes in emissions laws and there wasnt really any good high flow cats back then, and Im sure there were other reasons as well. Anyway, just stick with whatcha got. It wont hurt anything. As for the best single cat Ypipe, its Hooker by far. It comes with the 2055's emissions legal headers. Good luck........

Single cat would definitely be easier on the install as well as the pocket. Two cats increase the cost and the headache of the install. Get a set of Hookers 2055's and a good 3" catback with a good hi flow cat Random Technology or Catco 3" cat you will not be dissatisfied. For a catback I used the Mufflex with a Spintech muffler, sounds nice plus flows better than a Flowmaster. My system was a dual cat so I stayed dual but believe me it was a pain. Had I not already had the Random Technology cats I would have converted to single. I don't really believe you would notice that much gain going to dual cats.

They are right, just get a good high-flow single like CarSound.
