gut a cat?

I have a 92' firebird with the 305ci TBI. I have flowmaster exaust but i want the car to be louder. so would gutting the cat make it any louder? and what would an open element improve the sound?

Yes it would make it louder and the open element will enable you to hear the engine sucking in air.
