hey man I have the same problem. That is the problem with flat exhaust flanges. I wish i would have bought headers that came with the ball flange instead. Anyways, when i was at a car show a couple weeks ago there was a 2002 GMMG ZL1 SS camaro there with the LS6 and hit had dealer installed long tubes. This is all part of the options included on this car and I noticed that he collector flages had red RTV squeezed out of them.. I figure if it is good for a $64,000 car than I can use it on my crappy flowtechs. I have yet to get home to do it but I will try it out and post on here. There is to much surface irregulation to get these things to seal properly. Rive it a try.

You might try Permatex Ultra Copper - it's high temp stuff. I've used it on a troublesome manifold with success.

I had the same problem. Went to the Flowmaster aluminum collector gaskets, and used some RED only (hi-temp) Permatex silicone sealer. 4 mos now, and no leaks. Might have been overkill, but .....who cares?
(the Ultra--Copper is designed for O2 sensors. It's not as hi-temp as the red, I don't believe. And I have NO electronics, thank ***, so I didn't have to worry about it.)
