Headers on an 83 w/non-hydraulic clutch
I'm going to be dropping a 350 in my 83 and I have a manual clutch (non-hydraulic) and the local-knows-everything-18 year old said that I'd have to switch everything from the panel to the bell housing to the clutch linkage and use a hydraulic setup in order for headers to fit. I'd really just like to leave it the hell alone and find a header that can fit in, or even use a hammer to "adjust" a header to fit. Am I A:going to need to switch to a hyraulic clutch B:freaking retarded and should switch to a hydraulic clutch, or C: going to be told what company makes the headers I'll need to purchase. I'd like to get intermediate width long headers, but I'll settle for anything better than manifolds.

well... that sounds like GOOD news. do I have to get any special type, like block huggers or shortys? From under the car it does look like the clutch cable is right smack dab in the center of the area the headers run through. 2nd question on the topic- Is it true I need to pull the engine, lay the headers in the sides of the bay, reinstall the engine, then attatch the headers? or can I but them in from below or something? this is gonna be fun, either way....Z-Monkey
