The problem with doing that is the 40 series is a single in/out muffler, so if you wanted 2 pipes coming outat the left tire area you would need to have a Y coming off the muffler. Not impossible, but ups the cost a bit. I would suggest you just have 1 pipe coming out of the muffler, but it's up to you. If you want to do it, then go for it, but don't let anyone tell you it can't be done (muffler shops have a tendency to do that).

2 outlet crossflow

well i found a 40 series already with 2 outlets and one inlet (ebay).. i was wondering if that whole crossflow muffler thing is necessary or could i put a 40 series thats not crossflow and have no horsepower loss?.. also if i get a high flow cat with no air tube will i fail emmissions .. if so is there a way i can get around that? ( make an air tube custom?)

You can put in a non-crossflow style 40 series and there won't be any loss. I wouldn't worry about the air tube to the cat unless they're really strict on the visual inspections where you are. I'd just leave it and if they say something make up an excuse or fix it (fairly easy to fab up a fake one).

I think the crossflow you are talking about would be the 80 series. I don't think flow makes a crossflow 40.

I think I remember seeing them for the Chevy trucks in summit a few years back, but its a big possibility that I'm mistaken...
