Got a line on a summit ordered exhaust system (3" Edlebrock headers through 3" Flow master American thunder), that was ordered for an '87 (I assume tpi) car. Can I use the system on my 84z28 HO? I don't care about emissions (although they are TES headers), it's for a car I use pretty much strictly for bracket racing. According the Summit the parts aren't the same for the 84 and the 87, does anyone know why?

you can use it, the only reason it says that is because everything is made to hook up to the stock cat, which is different from your car to the 87.

 

If you use your car for racing, and you have no care for emissions, then I wouldnt worry about it. Just weld up a pipe in place of the cat and your good.

 

what about the cat is different, the bolt up, the size or the location? there is already a cat size pipe welded onto the system, so long as the rest of the lengths are okay, I should be fine, all with knowledge please let me know.
