If you are going to be running 3" single exhaust you will want a Y pipe. H and X pipes are used in dual exhaust applications to balance exhaust pressure between the pipes.

when I installed my Hooker 2055s I didn't have to remove much. aside from the obvious removal of the old exhaust system, all I had to do was remove the AIR setup to give me more space. Of course the spark plug wires had to be removed. You may want to remove the fan switch on the passenger side of the block, because I kinda broke mine off when I put the new header in.

with long tubes you'll need to remove a whole lot more such as the starter, and probably jack up the engine a few inches. if your car is a daily driver and you don't really plan on making it a drag car, shorties will suffice. You're only getting 5-10 more hp from long tubes and its a hell of a lot more work/

even with shortys you probably will have to remove the starter if you dont have a mini starter, remove air tubes manifold, and definitly the fan switch don't knwo one person who hasn't broken thers yet when doing headers
