SLP or Hooker? Opinions please
I will be dropping in a 350 vortech TPI around mid summer and I am having trouble deciding between SLP 1 3/4 coated headers w/ full 3' exhaust and a single 3'' cat or something that hooker has. Alot of people here seem to think alot of Hooker and their Y pipe. Can anybody steer me in the right direction with some facts so I dont regret spending money in the wrong place? Any ideas are welcome and my total price range for complete exhaust will probably be $1000 to $1500 (hopefully less but if it takes this much to get a quality full exhaust I will spend it).
For that amount of money I would go with a complete SLP system.
1 3/4 headers
3" Catco Cat
3" Catback system
Reason: Good performance, nice sound and the tailpipes are different. Also its Stainless Steel and will last forever, can't say that about Hooker.
I have SLP package.

For headers I'd go with Hooker. SLP has issues, they overcharge for what they think is the greatest quality ever, but it's not.

actually i have a hooker catback its a 3" i-pipe and 2.5 tail pipes....i recommend changing the tips though...i dont like the ones that come with the kit...so i got stainless steel tips....and i like it alot...i wish it were a lil louder but i heard if you get headers then it makes it louder...i have my cat gutted so hopefully it will make it louder when i get headers down the road
btw my catback was like 200 or so...

2055's. Do a search and read the posts at the top about headers.
Get your moneys worth:
SLP....All Stainless Steel and will not RUST. ***
HOOKER.... All Mild Steel and will RUST (headers. pipes, muffler and tailpipes).
***Save money "no coating needed on headers".

Coating does more than prevent rust. In fact, that's one of its side benefits.
It's real benefit, heat insulation, is not provided by "corrosion resistant steel" (its real name, there's no such thing as "stainless steel", inspite of its widespread use).
By the way; yes, "stainless steel" (you know, "corrosion resistant steel") will rust (a common term for "corrosion" or "oxidation").

Understand, I didn't say mild steel is better than CRES, I did say that coating does more than prevent corrosion. Fact is, CRES headers benefit greatly from ceramic coating.
As to whether I'm having problems with corroding 2055's in my area of the country, define "problem". I'm in my 3rd winter with the home high-temp painting job.
