What is the best way to fix this?

Well I have had a crappy exhaust not for awhile now and I always blamed it on my collector gaskets. That all changed today when i found this raging hole in my I-pipe right before it enters the muffler. It seems that the modified hanger had fatigued and ripped a hole in the I-pipe. I did not install this exahust (this was 4 years ago when I knew nothing about these cars) but now I see what a horrible job they did. They didn't even use the hangers that came with it, but instead cut them off and welded these on instead. I found this when I was trying to keep the rear springs from rattling today (completely different annoyance). Should I just patch that hole. It is more of a tear. The hole is about 1" long and .5" wide. Upon further review they also didn't install the cat-back right. It sits 7" to far forwad and the bend doesn't even go over the axle So they just put a big dent in it to make it fit. What idiots. I am so glad that I do all the work on my car now. Does anyone know if I can just order a new I-pipe from Hooker. I really don't want to buy a whole new cat back.

They don't sell the I-pipe alone to the best of my knowledge. But, if you talk to them, they may be willing to make an extra pipe the next time they make a run for their cat-back, if you're willing to pre-pay and wait until they make the run. Some people have done that for their 2055 y-pipe.
