Ignorant UK'er cat back system question!
Spot of advice needed here please gentleman.
I am just about to order coated headers and coated y pipe from ACS and get them shipped to the UK. Before I do, I need some more info about what to do from CAT back. On the 2 camaros I have, both CAT back pipes start with a flare. Do any aftermarket ones start with a flange?
Sorry to be ignorant on this, but seeing a camaro in this country is rare, never mind finding one and looking underneath and hoping it is different to mine!!!
Thanks.
Andy.

They will have the same type of connection as the factory did for the application they say they'll fit.
'85 was the last year for a flange, if I understand my history.

I'd say "don't bother, use an "angle grinder/welder combo", but knowing Andy's flawless car from pictures, I'll just shut up

Thanks five7kid and z-power!
For appearences and ease of dismantling sake, I would rather bolt the y pipe to the "removed CAT" section and then, again, bolt the other end to the CAT back system via flanges. I have asked ACS if they can weld a flange on to the end of the y pipe befre they coat it.
The replacement CAT section will be welded up from stainless pipe and plate (hopefully). Using a U clamp on slip fit pipes will mark the coating on the y pipe and make marks on the stainless section. Both a no-no for my show car!!
Can anyone confirm the 1985 cut off for the cat back pipe with a flange? Is it a 3" pipe? has anyone got an aftermarket cat back system that has a flange?
Thanks again to all who help. Much appreciated.

Many a true word spoken in jest!
Needless to say there won't be any deals done involving a 3rd Camaro!
