Smog pump question
Is it actually worth it to remove it...i been looking on the boards and all i can find is it doesnt do anything most people just remove it to get rid of weight...But there are a good bit of people that live around me sayin the could feel a diff when the pulled it off...so im confused on taking it off or not

I raced the Camaro for a season when the '57 was down. I kept complete run records, taking the pump belt off about mid-season. If I hadn't written down that I had removed it, you couldn't have known when I did from the times.
I went to put the belt back on about a week later, and the pump had frozen up.
If you remove it for any other reason than cleaning up the engine compartment or reluctance to replace a worn out one, you're fooling yourself.

It just cleans up the bay a bit. If you remove your AIR system you will have to take it off or it will eventually sieze and cause massize amounts of parasitic loss. If your AIR is entact just leave it. It weighs about 3 lbs or so and is not much eight off the front end to be concerned about.
