Catco Cat & SLP Catalyst Adapter

Anyone else used a Catco 9118 cat with the SLP header catalyst adapter? They don't fit together very well...the slip fit has a lot of slop in it. Seems like a potential leak with a traditional clamp. I'm considering using a band clamp, but I'm not sure this will solve the problem. I'm reluctant to weld it up since I will eventually have to replace the cat, and I don't want to have to buy a new catalyst adapter.

I would try the band clamp. They allow for a little slop between the two pipes and will really close them up and hold them tight.

My other idea was to use a tailpipe expander to slightly increase the diameter of the catalyst adapter, but I'm concerned that I would have problems with other cats in the future.

By the way, Shifty...I'm a Wright State alumni.

Expanding the pipe would work as well. However you will still want to use a clamp.

Always nice to hear from locals.
