Borla

I hear you guys debating ALOT over flowmaster and spintechs.
But how does Borla compete to them? I thought borla was top of the line? (correct me if I'm wrong please!). Also, I heard a clip of the Edelbrock, and they sounded mean, or is Edelbrock a waste of time?

Basically, I'm looking for an exhaust that will gave me a BASSY rumble, not rocks in a can, till about 2500 rpms, and blast away any sound around me above 2500 with, once again, a BASSY rumble only super loud. I know it depends on the sound that I like, but without hearing a live car, sound clips are only so good. I really have to make a decision soon, and I don't want to make another forum about flowmaster vs spintech, but what is it exactly that you like/dislike about those and other brands of exhaust systems? (eg. higher/lower tones, db, flow, hp/tq)

Oh, and while I'm at it, why does my current exhaust make an odd clincking noise when it's reving down, like if I hit the gas and it goes down to idle, around 1000-1200 rmp, I hear some noise out of the exhaust, but only if I'm standing behind the car. Nothing's loose, or vibrating, but it's just one certain spot, for a second, it makes that noise. Any ideas?

But please help me with my search for an exhaust.
Oh, and a quicky, is a 5.0L TPI (Aut) an HO or LO?

Thanks ppl

I know it's different, but a co-worker has Edelbrock on his brand new Dodge Ram, it sounds so incrediblly BASSY and just plain rocks!!! I would compare Edelbrock to Borla as compared to Flows and the like. But Borla is definetly a top brand exhaust, but it also has a top $. Get something similar, but cheaper. Edelbrock mufflers are lifetime warrantied, so you can't go wrong with that part, and they aren't overpriced too bad. Check out prices at Jegs or Summit.

Just listen to them all before you purchase em. Im sure they all flow perfectly enough and I think Borlas do sound pretty damn mean. However they are priced pretty damn mean as well. Ill stick with my flows thank you :lala:

Check out the Hooker or magnaflow exhaust. They are both bassy at idle and scream up top. I have yet to hear a flowmaster set-up on a 305 that did not have rasp. The borla kit is nice because you can remove the plates to acheive different noise levels. However, I have also heard that there are fitment problems.

Like I have told others (who all have loved the system by the way) if you are looking at Borla, then look into the BANKS kit!..stainless quality, half the price and sound much better IMO.Sound is amazing from this cat back system, and when you can get a stainless kit for like $300 ,why bother with the non-stainless kits for about the same price?..Little known here on the board , those who have got the kits (and the list is growing) really like them.Banks was the icon back in the 80's with their twin turbo fbody kits and exhaust systems and then went a differnt direction into trucks. But,their system is still avail for the taking and it is a wonderful system!..just my 2 cents
