You probably wanna keep it a secret unless it's a 350...or be prepared for a never ending argue...

One of the dumbest things I see is a 16-sec car with open headers that is trailered to the track.

One of the sweetest things is a quiet NA 12-sec car that is driven to the track.

I cringe every time I see a thread subject like "How can I make my car louder?", or, "What's the loudest muffler out there?" Noise does not equal power, people.

You complain about restrictions that are imposed on our sport by the powers that be, then you go out to make your car even more annoying to the general public.

Too many Peter Pans out there...

As I once heard:

lol this is great i have been pulled over and ticeted once for my pipes. I have 3" high flow cat and ravin muffler its not loud persay but it is real deep. Out in aurora i seem to find the cops who believe anythign louder than a honda is to loud. I have had complaints from neighbors aobut all our cars actually. Our suburbans got some loud *** pipes on it, the camaro and our elcamino and 81Z28. I work thsi shift friday and saturday nights when i do ice maintenace so i usually dont leave work till 3 or 4 am. I worked it for a few weeks came home one morning about 430 and theres two squad cars waitign for me in front of the house. One of th eneighbors had called and bitched about me comign home at odd hours and revving the car coming down the street. I dont i baby it down the street becasue if i wake my parents up its usually over. SO the cops looks at it hears it and goes its not that loud but sounds good and left. I am soon gettign rid of the muffler though and getting a y put in for some real noise.

Me too, the loudest muffler question doesnt make sense to me.

I also rode in a ZR1 and I was amazed how quiet and quick it was!!

My first time at the track I was in my 365 day driven a year S10 V8 and a Ford Galaxie pulled up in the other lane. Open headers, tubbed and all that, I actually followed him as he trailored it into the track. I ran 13.25 and he ran 14.7

I don't see anything wrong with running open pipes at the track if you want to try to get every last bit of power out of it, but runnin 14.7 it probably won't make a big difference. My neighbor across the street has mentioned to me about how she can here me come and go every day in my truck and its a v6. I can't wait to hear what she says once I crank up the 406 with open headers to take it to the muffler shop to get my exhaust system. Loud does not always sound good, and a lot of people need to keep that in mind. I want to try to keep my car quiet but with a nice deep tone so I'm going for dual turbo mufflers. It may not be quiet compared to stock, but I think it will sound a lot better than dual Flowmaster's. I would much rather impress people with a fast, quiet car with a low rumble than with an obnoxiously loud 16 second car.

once Most people love the sound of the IROC as it is now.

hooker 2055 headers, 3" y-pipe made by me, no cat, into a 3" Random Tech with dual 3" outlets.
