My Cat's a Hardass

Hey guys, I'm trying to rip my cat off the y-pipe and its on there really hard. Just posting to see if any of you have any ideas for getting it off. I've tried a lot of things and need this done in the next couple hours. Thanks.

You can try to heat up the bolts with a torch or you can just break the bolts with a hacksaw if it comes to that.

Take the whole y-pipe off and do it off the car. It is much easier to look at it and get a good grip on it that way Not sure on other 3rd gens but on TBI cars one side bolts on and the other is crimped to the y-pipe. It will not just pull off. You will have to cut it or pull it past the crimps.

Well I have the catback disconnected but I'm trying to get it off the y-pipe and having a hell of a time doing it. I don't really want to pull the whole y-pipe because I don't have the car jacked very high and it would just be a pain in the situation I'm in. I cut about half the diameter of the pipe off but the top portion is hard to reach and it won't budge.

I had to put my exhaust in the fork of a tree. I then grabbed hold of the cat and twisted while pulling with both feet on the tree trunk and a team of friends standing by to catch me when it broke loose.
