Exhaust Differences

what's the difference between the tbi and tpi exhaust systems, is it just the flanges? i have the LO3, but was wondering if i could put on an aftermarket exhaust for the 305 tpi motor? is it even worth it? i'm almost positive if i did that, i'd have to do from the headers back, am i correct? thanks in advance.

Depending on the TPI exhaust they came in 2.5" and 3" sizes. Your LO3 came with 2.25" junk. You can use TPI exhaust without a problem. If you only go with a cat-back for now you will need to do some fab work to the end of the I-pipe where it meets the cat. Or you could get a cat-back desinged for TBI and it will come 3" but with a 2.25" reducer to mate to the stock cat. If you are replacing everything at once, just buy everything tailored to a TPI car. That way you get a full 3" ehxuast without any reducers on them.
