Comments on Heddman shorty's

Just installed my new Hedman shorty headers to replace my Hooker 2460's. I couldn't get a decent y pipe to work with the hookers so I replaced them. My Jet-Hot rep owed me a favor so I picked them up coated with the y coated too. The design is identical to the hookers except fot the flanges. The Hedmanns have a ball flange at the collector which is a much better and leak proof design than the standard 3-bolt flange on the hookers. The Ypipe bolted right up with no problems and has good ground clearance. The flanges were straight and true which offers a leak free seal against the head. Only two small downsides to this setup. First is that there is no provision for the 02 sensor. Only took 5 minutes to weld in a bung, but I think they should come with it. Other thing is that I had to take a die grinder to clearance the K-member just a bit to clear the drivers side collector. If not it would have rattled and been annoying. I do believe though that the benefits of the ball flanges makes these headers worth switching to. And of course, since the coating is Jet Hot, it was immaculate and will no doubt hold up for years

What were the main differences between them besides the collector and o2 bug?

Tom

That was it. You can get the Heddmans without air/egr whereas the hookers only come WITH it. Side by side they look identical.

Been a long time since I had stock manifolds. I put the Heddmans on to replace my hooker 2460's because i couldn't get a good ypipe made for the car. I have no cat and a 3" exhaust system with a Magnaflow crossflow muffler and corsa quad tips. It's quite a bit louder than a car with just a catback due to no cat and sewer-pipe catback. Not obnoxious though. I'll get a sound clip on here soon.
