I really need to get my car inspected...I got a ticket the other day for the expired stickers. I've decided on the Dynomax converter.

It's a direct fit, priced well and high flow. It says though, that it requires an air tube kit. Whats that? According to the picture, the converter has the air tube welded to it already. And my car already has the stock A.I.R setup with the tubes.

Hmm, hold on here. Did some searching. I found a previous post on this and Jegs has this same converter for a lot less $$. But, there are 2 different ones. The one for the 86-89 F-body doesnt say that it has the air tube. The one for the 90-92 5.0L Vin#E & F, which is what I have, has the air tube. Will that one work??

Any direct-fit converter will have the A.I.R. pipe. Get the TPI one (assuming you have TPI - the TBI piece is only 2-1/4" inlet/outlet).

The "air tube kit" gives you a piece of high temp rubber hose and a couple of clamps. The original A.I.R. pipe is clamped on, and typically has to be cut off because of the crimping action of the clamp. The kit lets you splice the original A.I.R. pipe to the pipe on the converter.

It's about time...I'm getting the Dynomax converter installed today. I ordered the direct fit converter from Jegs for the 86-89 F-Body VIN F, which is what I have. The only thing is, the new converter has a 3" inlet and a 3" outlet. I was told that my car has 2.5" piping. So...was the guy that looked at my car an idiot or is this converter wrong?

Does your car still have the stock exhaust? If it does then the 3" is going to be to big.

Aparently, my car does not have stock exhaust because the converter slipped right on. I put the Flowmaster muffler on, but left the piping alone....I guess the previous owner switched it to 3". Hopefully now, my car will pass inspection.
