what should i do?

have stock 305 will get headers in the future, probably when i get a 350. have a flowmaster and the cat looks to have been replaced, thinking about getting 3" tubing from the cat back to the flowmaster, will this help? also thinking bout gutting the cat. what if i put a big glasspack behind the cat and turndown before the rear end? just as Jesse James says " i don't want it to sound good i want it to sound like hell"

you could replace the cat-back with 3 inch mandrel bent tube, but you'll still be restricted in your exhaust until you get headers and a good y-pipe... the stock manifold and y-pipe are insanely restrictive.... but you should notice small, minimal amounts of improvement from the stockers.... you will probably have to buy a 3 inch outlet cat, and a new muffler with 3 inch outlets

on top of what the guy above me said, you will also be restricted until you replace the blowmaster you have. get something better than blowmaster.

and please dont do the glasspack before the axel. are cars have enough problems with the ****** white trash image goin on.

i agree that flowmasters have bad flow, but some people can look past that in order to sound like they like... personally I dont like the flowmaster sound.

The glasspack you wont get any extra flow from, but if you like the sound then go for it, just know that you arent improving the white trash image, as posted above By all means, do it if you want to though.

Just realize that you arent getting any performance from your current plans... maybe very small amounts though... If I were you I'd buy some 1 5/8 headers (nothing cheap, otherwise you defeat the purpose), and then get a cat-back and a cat. Then put it all on at one time and you'll definetly notice a improvement. For me there is no point in putting headers in w/o a freely flowing cat-back, or vice-versa so i wont replace either until i have both on hand.

compared to what he wants to use (sry..HAS) a FM!! i have a glasspack on my car (hedman hedders, no cat, and glasspack) and it sounds great. real mean sound.

new 3k rpm max

EDIT: i thought i'd add this. this was the same type of clip. stock, with cat but no muffler. 3k max ..the new clip was in my garage and the old one was in my driveway, so that y the new one has an echo

what type of headers should i look for on a limited budget? also will they bolt up to the stock y pipe? i would love duals but concerned with the clearance issue. also should i get rid of the flowmaster? would it make any difference since i'm not white (with the glass pack idea?)

how much can u spend

also will they bolt up to the stock y pipe
i'm 99.999% sure NONE will bolt to stock y. but most header kits come with y-pipes

also should i get rid of the flowmaster?
yes yes yes. i had an 80 and couldn't stand it. i say u take off your muffler put a glass pack on (i mean just slide it on the end on the I-pipe not bolt it up), turn on the car and if u hate it take it back. plus it's 20 bucks

if you're on a budget then i suggest saving for longer There's no point in getting sub-par "performance" upgrades... it truely defeats the purpose.

As for glass packs... if you like the sound go ahead.... and thanks for not getting fart cans

Look at the stickies on the top of the page, it'll show you the performance / price for headers (headers come with y-pipes typically). Any 3 inch mandrel bent aftermarket cat-back will be a big upgrade from your stocker... but they have to be both 3 inch, AND mandrel bent!

I hope this helps you

i paid $500 for my coated headers.....while they were half way to my house i was fired. i had to go with a cheap glasspack so i wouldn't be running open headers....sounds great...flows great and the only prob was me installing it (should be welded in and i don't have a welder) what's wrong with a budget. everyone is on some type of budget.... and u never answered my question on how a glasspack isn't better than a FM for flow...(if that's what u meant)

sorry i did not mean that a glasspack was worse for flow than a flowmaster... i was confused actually, I thought that you meant adding a glasspack on top of the flowmasters. I gave a gander at your sound clip of your exhaust man, it sounds real nice
